Metias' death was originally blamed on Day, however it was found out by June that Thomas actually killed him. Thomas was ordered by Commander Jameson to kill him, by whatever means needed.
Metias was murdered by Thomas Bryant, his subordinate and lieutenant, on November 28th, 2300. In Champion, June visits Metias' grave on her 27th birthday, stating how from that day on, 'I will be older than he was'. When June was interrogated in Prodigy, about if she'd ever lied to Metias, she hallucinated him asking "Have you ever lied to me, Junebug?" and receives a disappointed look from Metias when she says she'd lied to him before. It is also mentioned when June was trying to figure out why Metias misspelled words in his journal that they often played a game where they'd have to unscramble words, which led June to the website. They are in a very good relationship, and Metias loves June very dearly. In Legend', Metias has to pick up June, after June decides to scale a building, and gets in trouble at her University. He knew June would be suspicious of the misspelled words, because according to June in Legend, he never misspelled words. Metias was very smart by misspelling words he'd knew June would find, and created the website.
